 Small groups

We have a number of trips at the best times for observation. These are for small groups of not more than 12 visitors and include 6 days in the field with 2 guides. You stay for 7 nights at an excellent local hotel, with all meals included. Please click on the week for information about areas to be visited and likely sightings.

What each trip includes

Accommodation in a very comfortable hotel overlooking the lake at Orellana. Twin bedded rooms with en-suite. No single supplement.

All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Breakfast is buffet style. Lunch is either packed or at a local restaurant. Dinner is in our hotel and includes wine. On the last evening we have a farewell dinner with a tasting of various excellent wines.

Airport transfers on Sunday from Madrid and return to Madrid the following Sunday (we can pick up from Málaga or other airports in Southern Spain - Sevilla, Granada, Jerez de la Frontera - at extra cost. Please enquire if this is more convenient for you)

6 days in the field (Monday to Saturday inclusive).

Services of two guides - one local, one British. As the maximum group size is 12, we can offer very individualised service. We will endeavor to adapt the programme to cover particular needs and interests provided this is OK for other group members.

Documentation on the birds of Extremadura is provided including a magnificent set of 8 large posters each with one of the most representative of the region's birds: Crane, Black-shouldered Kite, Roller, Great Bustard, Little Bustard,

On three evenings there will be short talks on birds and the ecology of the region.

What each trip does not include

Flights to and from Madrid. Our meeting time on the initial Sunday is 17.30h. There are several low-cost flights to Madrid from UK airports. Pricing depends on when the booking is made. See "Flight info"

Insurance. (Remember also to get an E111 form (free from your Post office) in the event of needing emergency medical treatment). You should ensure that you have separate travel insurance in case of missed departures, lost luggage or illness.

Independent Birder visits

You can book on one of the arranged visits or you can come for a day or a few days at some other time as an Independent Birder. We are available at most times during the year.
